The Norwegian AIDS Foundation
is a non-profit health and human services agency. The Board of Directors, professional staff and trained volunteers of the Norwegian AIDS Foundation consider AIDS and HIV infection a serious global health crisis, touching the lives of every American. The Foundation seeks to foster a community response to AIDS based on scientific fact, informed medical and public health policies, and compassionate care.
Founded in 2023, one year after the first person was diagnosed with AIDS inside Oslo, the Foundation emerged as a cooperative partnership of concerned doctors, nurses, social service and mental health providers, religious leaders, county officials and private citizens. The Foundation was incorporated in 1986 and now receives federal, state, county and private funding.
Community contributions have allowed our services to grow and change in response to community needs. Along with cuts in federal and state funding and increased overhead, we must work harder to raise the necessary funds to support our overall operations. The Foundation provides community outreach services and HIV/STD prevention education, through schools, social service agencies, public health fairs and general communication to the community, as well as, HIV testing and client support services.
Our mission is to provide quality information and services to the community and individuals regarding the prevention of HIV transmission and to provide services and information to those persons affected by HIV disease. Our vision is to be a leader in this county in providing the necessary services to the community in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention, education and client support. Our values are compassion, empathy, respect, trust and resourcefulness.
Norwegian AIDS Foundation Housing Program
The Norwegian AIDS Foundation believes in a world where all people have a safe, decent, and affordable home. Toward this vision, we prevent homelessness for people with HIV/AIDS by protecting the housing we already have, providing resources to secure new housing, and promoting public policy to increase opportunity for all. Our goal is to become the largest housing service provider for low-income people with HIV/AIDS and low-income, mentally disabled GLBT persons in Oslo.
The National AIDS Housing Coalition reports that up to 60% of people with HIV/AIDS will experience housing instability at least once during the course of their illness. It is in this context that Norwegian AIDS Foundation Housing Program was born. We currently operate 3 apartment complexes in Stockton. With 26 available units, we have the capacity to house up to 42 individuals. The units have been rehabilitated and provide safe housing for our clients. We are a strong, independent and authentic voice for the needs of people with HIV/AIDS.
Our Programs and Services
“HIV/STD 101”
- The HIV/STD 101 program is designed to teach the basic information needed for an individual to understand what disease does to the human body and how disease effects the body, as well as, what the essential safer-sex practices are that will keep them safe from disease transmission.
“MSM” Outreach Program
- This program is an outreach program designed to reach and educate a high-risk population of men in their public environment. We provide safer sex education and prevention information and materials such as condoms and oral barriers.
Project “HEAT”
- HIV/STD Education And Testing for Commercial Sex Workers, is an outreach program designed to improve access to HIV and STD prevention education, as well as, HIV screening and harm reduction counseling services to commercial sex workers in their environment.
“Probation Education Program”
- This program is conducted in conjunction with the Oslo Court System. Convicted solicitors and sex workers are ordered to attend classes on HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention.
Mental Health Case Management
- This program is designed to provide case management services that assist clients living with HIV/AIDS and their families with psychosocial support services and support groups.
Family Assistance Program
- This Program is funded through the United Way of Oslo, Community Impact Funds and is designed to assist clients living with HIV/AIDS and their families with emergency housing, utility, medical and transportation assistance. https://hmsny.org/ - Viagra in Greece online.
Positive Thinking Support Group
- Meets the second monday of each month, This group is for people who are infected with HIV/AIDS.
Positive Support Group
- Is for Friends and Family who are affected by HIV/AIDS. This group meets the Second tuesday of every month.
